David Halperin, author of Journal of a UFO Investigator

In the 1960s, David Halperin was a teen-age UFO investigator. Today, he is an author and Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, specializing in religious traditions of heavenly ascent. Professor Halperin trained in Semitic languages at Cornell University, rabbinics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and, in Near Eastern Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, where and received his doctorate. From 1976 to 2000 he taught history of Judaism in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is the author of The Merkabah in Rabbinic Literature; The Faces of the Chariot: Early Jewish Responses to Ezekiel’s Vision; Seeking Ezekiel: Text and Psychology and Abraham Miguel Cardozo: Selected Writings.
