About this lecture: Professor Kevin Sandler talks about growing up in Detroit, Michigan in a Jewish household brimming with love over Gene Wilder movies such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Blazing Saddles, and Stir Crazy.  He situates his own experience alongside American Jewish humor traditions, the Jewish New Wave in Hollywood films of the 1960s and 1970s, and Wilder’s own struggles with his Jewish identity.
